i got me some New Shoes . yesterday was the final straw for my old shoes . they looked ok and i was thinking that maybe over exercising was causing me some ankle and lower leg probs, but after a couple of days resting my foot, the second i started walking, it began to hurt it again. so off to the show store i went. i decided to go with a pair of Nike jogging shoes due to all the walking i'm doing . i'm hoping that they will last a little longer than the tennis shoes did . the prob is all jogging shoes are really ugly, no matter what brand. they just look awful. luckily fashion consciousness has never been one of my issues

The person who i voted for in our provincial election lost . the referendum to change our system of elections lost . that's my week in a nutshell . the Canucks lost to the better team, the godless Chicago Blackhawks who are pretty good and just might make it to the cup final . as for my candidate in the election, i knew he didnt stand a chance in this very conservative riding, so no biggie . it is a shame we didnt vote to change our systems of elections though , people were scared off by fuzzy math and mistruths and thats just a shame. elections should be fairer, but what can you do ?

i've been hitting the exercise pretty hard lately and i am beginning to get back into shape . my prob though is that i'm pushing myself too hard too fast , basically because i am impatient to be back amongst the living . i can feel the musculature of my body getting back to normal and that just makes me want to work harder so it will come faster . i am just not giving myself enough resting time for my body to catch up to the changes . so today i am just going to stay in and be a bum and let myself heal . then i can start going hard again tomorrow :p

The Godless St Louis Blues have been vanquished in 4 straight games ! the first sweep of a 7 game series in Canucks history . to be fair, we got lucky last night . there was a goal the wasnt counted for St Louis , but sometimes thats how the playoffs go . hopefully karma wont come back to bite us later . St Louis shouldnt be too sad though . every game was up for grabs and the Blues will be a formidable opponenet in the future if they can keep their team's core together . i wouldnt want to meet them in round one next year thats for sure . the best part about the sweep is that we can get some injuries taken care of for when we face the next Godless team in the second round of playoffs . we may just need some medicinal sausages..................

its 3 weeks into the monitored exercise rehab program at St Paul's Hospital and i think its really working . i'm tired all the time , but i think thats from all the changes my body is trying to make so that i can recover fully . the main thing i notice is that my overall strength is returning and that sure is a relief. i was very weak for a little while, but that seems to be ending . lets hope this improvement continues .

i wonder if it has anything to do with the sausages.................

This has been tough week and this is why i never got around to a mid week post.........

i've been gearing up for a monitored exercise program at St. Paul's Hospital to help in my recovery to my terrible reaction to a certian class of heart meds . on wednesday i pushed myself much too far and in the evening i was feeling very strong symptoms of angina . i decided to go into hospital and get it checked out . after 2 days of testing and some bureaucratic wrangling , it was determined that i didnt have another heart attack, but that i'm really going to be careful as i get my back into good shape . it was a little scary at first, but i gues it was just a little bump on my road to recovery

Its that time of year again . my mad movie rush is over and its now time to separate the wheat from the chaff . the one overwhelming feeling i got from my movie dash was that this wasnt a particularily great year for movies . its wasnt a terrible one,, but there really wasnt much that made me go wow, that was a great film . let us hope for a better crop in 2010 .

unfortunately and to my shame, i have not seen any of the nominess for best documentary short or long, nor have i seen any of the nominees for best foreign film . i also didnt see anything nominated for best animated short . this kinda makes me sad cuz i know i missed some great stuff . i also missed all the nominees for best live action short but who didnt

so lets give out the hardware using the order of last years oscar presentations

Best Costume Design - i didnt get to see Australia and wouldnt go to Revolutionary Road on a bet , but even though it was a lousy movie, the one with the best costumes that i saw waseast to pick . the Mooscar goes to.......The Duchess

Best Animated Feature - I didnt get to see Bolt, but of the two other choices , i really thought one was far superior. this Mooscar goes to........Wall-E

Best Makeup - I didnt see Hellboy II, but this one was kinda easy to pick . what was the most iconoc and memorable image in makeup ? think back to halloween and you will know that this Mooscar goes to........The Dark Knight

Best Visual Effects - I saw all of these and am really not sure why Benjamin Button was nominated, so its a toss up between the two superhero movies . i kinda think that this Mooscar should go to..........Iron Man

Best Art Direction - again i didnt see Revolutionary Road (nor will i) , but this is another close category . this Mooscar goes to..........The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

Best Visual Effects - another close race between the superheroes, but again the Mooscar goes to.......Iron Man

Best Actor in a Supporting Role - again i didnt see Revolutionary Road, but mannnn is this a tough one to call . this is really one time when it truley is an honour just to be nominated . four very strong contenders, but one performance really got into your head . this Mooscar goes to........Heath Ledger (Rest in Peace)

Best Actress in a Supporting Role - this category to me had much weaker nominees than the previous category . i dont think there were that many great supporting roles for women, which is a shame. although its from the worst movie of the bunch is was the best and most complete acting performance. this Mooscar goes to...........Penelope Cruz

Best Adapted Screenplay - This is a tough category , in all of them the writing was great and made you think . there was however only one that made me happy that i had seen it. this Mooscar oges to..........Slumdog Millionaire

Best Sound Editing - these next two categories are always tough to pick, especially if you havent seen all the nominees in theatres with great sound systems. saying that, one stood out to me for the sheer amount of sounds they needed to produce. this Mooscar goes to......... Wall-E

Best Sound Mixing - another toughie, but once all the sounds are mixed together though, the most memorable sonic enviroment to me had the hard driving sound of MIA . this Mooscar easily goes to Slumdog Millionaire

Best Actress in a Leading Role - like most of the oddsmakers, i think this category comes down to Winslet and Streep with props to Melissa Leo . for me i just have to close my eyes and imagine whos image made the bigger impression and the answer was clear . this Mooscar goes to........Meryl Streep

Best Film Editing - this one to me is kinda simple to pick, cuz the work involved would have been huge and the results were excellent . the other films were well done to, but this was in a class by itself . the Mooscar goes to............ The Dark Knight

Best Cinematography - this one is really quite tough due to the varying styles of their film makers . its really a toss up between two. sorry benjamin button, but the images that most impressed me were in, and the Mooscar goes to..........Slumdog Millionaire

Best Original Score - although i did not see Defiance, this one is a no brainer for me. for the most sonically beautiful soundscape of the last few years (which i posted a free d/l link toa month or two back), the Mooscar goes to........... Slumdog Millionaire

Best Song - i'm just amazed the Paper Planes wasnt nominated for this Oscar or the Grammy, the song was everywhere and its great. luckily two other songs from its film were nominated . this Mooscar goes to MIA for O Saya from Slumdog Millionaire

Best Original Screenplay - this category is always full of great movies and this year is no exception. i didnt see Happy-Go-Lucky, but i am going to roll back the calendar to the spring and award a great little movie that not many people saw . for its unusual and compelling story , this Mooscar goes to..........In Bruges

Best Actor in a Leading Role - wow this is a hard category to pick . although people are saying this a race between Sean Penn & Mickey Rourke , that is doing great disservice to the other three nominees . these were all passionate and stirring performances . so hard to pick one above the rest . they all did such a good job . again i will close my eyes and see which image is the strongest . ummmmmmmmmmmmmm this Mooscar goes to...........Sean Penn for Milk

Best Director & Best Picture - as usual my opinion is that you cant have a best film that doesnt get the nod for best direction . you cant have one without the other . luckily the nominees in both categories are the same . all of these are worth a look . in 5th is The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, in 4th is The Reader, in 3rd is Frost/Nixon, 2nd is Milk and these 2 Mooscars go to...........Slumdog Millionaire

I hope you rung in the new year in splended style and didnt wake up looking like this (you better check your reaction time to be sure). didnt the year go by fast ? it flew by for me , mostly cuz i was quite ill for the second half of it . my new year's eve was spent in bed . i was tired, i crawled into bed at 10 , only to be awakened by the sound of fireworks and revelry in the streets . dunno if anyone was looking at the stars like we are supposed to this year . I'll try making more stargazing one of my resolutions this year as well as to be more ruthless with my mp3 folder and delete any song that i dont absolutely love . that oughta keep me busy .

/me waves goddbye to Internet Explorer forever (especially now) here is a free online antivirus scan in case you want to double check . my blogging app has never worked with firefox for some unknown reason and i've had to use IE which really sucks as a browser . now i can use Opera to do blog posts . Yayyyyyy ! i would use opera as my regualr default browser, because it is a faster browser, except they dont have the one feature i can not live without; in-browser volume control of my music player . Firefox has a handy add-on called Foxy Tunes and i havent been able to find anything like it for opera . firefox is slower, but not that much slower and being able to hit pause or adjust volume of my tunes is a must for me while surfing & d/l
